Steiner – Das Eiserne Kreuz, Teil 2<\/em> (aka: Breakthrough<\/em>) ist eine Deutsch-Britische Filmproduktion aus dem Jahr 1979, hochkar\u00e4tig besetzt mit Richard Burton, Robert Mitchum, Rod Steiger, Curd J\u00fcrgens, Klaus L\u00f6witsch, Michael Parks, Werner Pochath, Horst Janson, Helmut Griem, Christoph Waltz (uncredited) und vielen mehr.<\/p>\n

Der Produzent Wolf C. Hartwig plante, finanziert mit den Millionen der immens erfolgreichen Schulm\u00e4dchen-Report-Filme<\/em>, eine internationale Gro\u00dfproduktion. Regie in Steiner – Das Eiserne Kreuz<\/em>, basierend auf Willi Heinrichs Weltkriegsroman \u201eDas geduldige Fleisch\u201c, f\u00fchrte Sam Peckinpah. Die Musik sollte aus der Feder von Peter Thomas kommen. Leider kamen die beiden nicht miteinander klar (Interview mit Peter Thomas in \u201eDer Filmkomponist Peter Thomas\u201c von Gerd Naumann, 2009 ibidem Verlag). Letztendlich schrieb der amerikanische Komponist Ernest Gold die Musik. Der Film wurde 1977, trotz gro\u00dfer finanzieller Querelen, ein internationaler Erfolg.<\/p>\n

Alsbald wurde eine Fortsetzung gedreht. Die Regie f\u00fchrte Andrew V. McLaglen, und bei der Filmmusik kam nun Peter Thomas zum Zuge. Der neue Regisseur und der Komponist verstanden sich auf Anhieb gut. Die Titelmelodie von Peter Thomas wurde kurz nach der Filmpremiere 1979 von der Ariola als Single ver\u00f6ffentlicht. Der Film Steiner – Das Eiserne Kreuz, Teil 2<\/em> konnte allerdings trotz Starbesetzung nicht mehr an den Erfolg des ersten Teiles ankn\u00fcpfen. Eine bereits angedachte LP-Ver\u00f6ffentlichung des Soundtracks wurde vermutlich deshalb nicht mehr weiterverfolgt.<\/p>\n

Das vorliegende Album ist die Vinyl-Premiere der Filmmusik, erg\u00e4nzt um einen bisher unver\u00f6ffentlichten Titel (auf LP und CD), der auf einer l\u00e4ngst vergriffenen CD-Ver\u00f6ffentlichung aus dem Jahr 1993 noch nicht enthalten war.<\/p>\n

Nach Peter Thomas Sound Orchester \u2013 Bruce Lee: The Big Boss<\/em> (CD\/LP ASM 048, Allscore 2020) und Peter Thomas Sound Orchester \u2013 Winnetou und sein Freund Old Firehand<\/em> (CD\/LP ASM 049, Allscore 2021) ist dies die dritte CD\/LP-Ver\u00f6ffentlichung einer Reihe, die dem Komponisten Peter Thomas gewidmet ist.<\/p>\n
