Christopher Kochs, singer, writer and bulky waste screener, is the blackstained
tuning fork of the Mufuti Twins. His lyrics are created at the “Ratsplatztanke”
(a petrol station) or in the studio “Heile Welt”, where he
also paints and warms his voice on the piano. He has been showing his
art work at national and international exhibitions since finishing his
studies at Academy of Munich. He is the drummer of the rockabilly-country
band Beef Jerky and also played the harmonica on numerous
studio-recordings.
Markus Mehr is the producer in the background, the “Gyro Gearloose”,
the one who turns the screws in the Mufuti-den. His main characteristics
include an addiction to sound, background vocals and a chronic lack of
sleep. He’s been on tour with his band Aroma for
years and since 2008 he works on the project Pioneers of Hifi.
He has been producing and remixing music for various bands, including
the Hamburg band Fotos.
The Mufuti Twins have known each other since 1995 - first as neighbours,
then together on tour in Germany with the Farfisa Club
(4 men and a portable organ) and now as duo, which they formed in their
characteristically relaxed way in 2003.
In order to optimize their stage presence in 2009 the twins became The
Mufuti Four!
The Jerry Cotton tribute song "Go Jerry, Go!"
was the first project Christofer Kochs, together with Daniel Mark Eberhard
(piano/keys), Walter Bittner (drums) and Uli Fiedler (bass), approached
in March 2010!
